The short version. Praefectus is a sovereign, on-device application. Your information is designed to stay on your device. There are no accounts and no sign-in, Praefectus does not connect to our servers, and we do not collect, receive, share, or sell your personal information. There is no advertising, no analytics, and no third-party tracking.

2. Our core principle: on-device by design
Praefectus is built to run entirely on your device. The information you enter — your profile, your plans, your tasks, and any documents you attach — is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to us. We operate no account system and no cloud sync, so we never receive a copy of your data.
3. Information the app handles, and where it stays
The app handles the following on your device, only if and to the extent you choose to provide it:
- Profile information you enter to personalize your plans — which may include your name, household and family members, pets, vehicles, belongings, notes you add (including health-related notes), locations, and military service details such as branch or rank.
- Your projects, tasks, plans, and notes that you create in the app.
- Documents (such as a letter or PDF) that you explicitly choose to attach for reference.
All of this is stored only on your device. We do not see it, receive it, or store it on our systems.
4. What we collect and share
We do not collect your personal information. We do not share or sell it. Praefectus contains no advertising, no analytics or usage tracking, and no third-party trackers or advertising identifiers. Praefectus does not send your personal information off your device.
5. Voice input
When you use the Speak button, Praefectus uses your device's speech recognizer to convert speech to text. On devices that support on-device recognition (typically Android 13 and later), this happens entirely on your device. On other devices, Praefectus requests offline processing, but your device's built-in speech service may process the audio under its own provider's privacy terms (for example, Google's, on many Android devices). Praefectus itself does not record, store, or transmit your voice audio; it receives only the resulting text, which stays on your device.
6. On-device AI
Praefectus uses a compact AI model that runs entirely on your device to generate plans, suggestions, and draft text. Your inputs are not sent to any external AI service. Because the model runs locally and is general-purpose, AI-generated content may be inaccurate or incomplete and is not professional legal, medical, immigration, financial, or tax advice. For anything regulated or consequential, verify the details with the appropriate official authority.
When you attach a document, Praefectus may scan it on your device to detect dates. This text recognition also runs entirely on your device.
7. Permissions
- Microphone — used only while you are using the Speak button, for voice input. You can decline it and type instead.
- Files you choose to attach — accessed only for the specific document you select, when you select it.
8. How your data is protected
Sensitive data is encrypted at rest on your device. Your profile is stored using Android's encrypted storage, and the app's database is encrypted. Because your data does not leave your device, it is not exposed to transmission or server-side risks.
9. Keeping and deleting your data
Because your data lives on your device, you control it. You can delete individual projects within the app, and uninstalling Praefectus removes the app's data from your device. We hold no copy to delete, because we never receive your data.
10. Children
Praefectus is a productivity tool intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children — and, as described above, we do not collect personal information from anyone.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information held about you. Because Praefectus keeps your information only on your device and we hold no copy, you can exercise these directly: view and edit your information in the app, and delete it on your device at any time. 12. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we will revise the effective date above and post the current version at this address. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
